One of my fondest memories of Wonderland Ave was the year I learned how to fold a paper crane!
As a child we would get out of school (rural Oregon) in May and head to Los Angeles and we were able to visit Wonderland school thanks to my Nana, Mrs. D. Tt was one of the most anticipated events of our year!
In 1993, my nana paired my twin sister with a group of "sporty kids", and I was taken in by a group of girls who folded origami! They taught me how to fold a paper crane and I was hooked! My nana and I folded thousands of origami pieces over the years, but cranes will always be the favorite.
The skills and lessons learned in those few days a year at Wonderland provided such a gift in my life and watching my Nana in her element and hearing so many stories from so many students, former students and co-workers truly is a blessing. What a wonderful place full of magical people. I'm extremely grateful for the experiences at a place my Nana loved beyond words.
